Arc flash injury: screens must stay fixed
An apprentice received a flash burn on Monday when a welding screen was moved while the next bay was welding. Screens are being fixed to the bay frames this week. Until then, nobody moves a screen while an adjacent bay is welding, and every welder checks the screens before striking an arc. Report any missing or damaged screen to your supervisor.

Drawing revision control: check before you cut
Subframe rails were cut to a superseded drawing this week and had to be scrapped. Before cutting any material, confirm the drawing revision on the work order matches the drawing at the bench. Superseded drawings must be returned to the quality office, not left in the bay. Quality will audit drawing revisions on the floor every Friday for the next month.

Isocyanate health monitoring
The occupational physician will be on site on 23 September for isocyanate health monitoring for all painters and paint shop staff. Attendance is mandatory. Respirator fit testing will be done at the same time for anyone whose fit test is due before December. Book your time through Sam Okafor.

Second shift on the fit-out line from 21 September
To recover the schedule on the curtainsider and pantech builds, the fit-out line will run a second shift from 2:30 pm to 10:30 pm from Monday 21 September for six weeks. Expressions of interest close on 16 September. Shift allowances apply under the enterprise agreement. Stores will be staffed until 6 pm during the second shift.

Customer quality audit: Statewide Fleet Leasing
Statewide Fleet Leasing will audit our quality system and their three curtainsider builds on 14 October. The audit covers drawing control, stage gate inspection records, calibration and non-conformance management. Supervisors must make sure work orders are complete and current and that no overdue measuring equipment is on the floor. Quality will run a pre-audit on 7 October.
