Final inspection and pre-delivery of a drop deck semi-trailer
You are a quality inspector in the final inspection bay.
What has happened
Drop deck semi-trailer WO-26-0420 for Northgate Truck Centre is in final inspection and due for delivery on 18 September. The rear overhang measured 20 mm over the drawing dimension and non-conformance NCR-26-092 is open pending an engineering review. The Quality and Compliance Manager wants the full compliance checklist and functional tests completed to the procedure, the weighbridge and post assembly service done, the road test carried out and the compliance file compiled for the plating authorisation. The trailer must not be plated until the overhang non-conformance has a signed disposition. Rework on the cross member welds and the missing torque paint has been verified.
Deliverables
- Entry condition check
- Completed design rule checklist and weighbridge record
- Functional test and road test records
- Non-conformance disposition recommendation
- Compliance file index and improvement proposal

Evidence guide
The student must recognise that the open non-conformance prevents plating and must not release the vehicle early. The checklist must be applied item by item with measured values, and the overhang assessment must reference the applicable dimension limit. The compliance file index must be complete and the improvement proposal must use data from the inspection. Look for sound judgement on use as is versus rework.
